"Economic Democracy, Economic Prosperity"

"Economic Democracy, Economic Prosperity"
Democratic socialism is a political ideology which believes strongly in the right of the workers to control their labor. Democratic socialists are opposed both to the authoritarian Communism of the old USSR and the capitalism in the United States which is, by nature, undemocratic. In capitalism, the living condition of the workers are determined by those on the top, those who get rich benefitting from the labor of others. Democratic socialism proposes a different approach, one of power equality and workers controlling their own destinies. Stewart Alexander will stand for this in the Washington should he be elected president. To all the workers and voters in the United States: Elect Stewart Alexander President in 2012.

Barack Obama: Not an Ally of the Working Class

We know what Barack Obama will be doing for the next year:  Dining with top corporate donors to his re-election campaign. Making compromises with Republicans that undercut the rights of workers. Or wrestling over whether gays and lesbians should have the fundamental civil right to marry. Or maintaining the tax status quo that allows the richest members of American society to pay fewer taxes than their secretaries. Or directing U.S. military attention to the Asia-Pacific region and maintaining global U.S. dominance. Or letting multi-national corporations pollute the environment and lead us towards irreversible climate change. Or letting public universities languish and tuition rise as student debt increases. Or letting women earn 78 cents to every man's dollar.
However, we also know what Stewart Alexander will be doing for the next year: Leading a grassroots campaign for the presidency that relies on donations from people, not corporations. He is a working person,  and will campaign in support of the working people of America. He will support the rights of gays and lesbians to marry, and the right of LGBTQ people to work without fear of employment discrimination. He will campaign in support of a tax policy that takes from those who have and give to those who have not. He will reject imperialism and work towards peace, not war. He will support climate change legislation that holds corporations accountable to the pollution of the environment and builds green infrastructure. He will support free education from pre-school to grad school and relieve student debt. Finally, he will work for women's rights and support equal pay. America is only beholden to a two-party system if we vote in this manner. The progressive choice for president is clear: Stewart Alexander, not Barack Obama
