From the Socialist Webzine:

The phrase that came to mind immediately upon hearing President Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech is “too little, too late.” After spending the last few years coddling the banks and the richest 1%, Obama has the nerve to now call for “economic fairness.” To him, this means tweaking payroll taxes and making a rhetorical call to reverse the Bush tax cuts for the rich. For working people in America real fairness means the right to a job, a guarantee of healthcare for all and an end to the Military Industrial Complex. Obama won’t deliver this. That’s why I am running for President against him.

As Billy Wharton, co-chair of the Socialist Party USA, stated in an article published today in the Socialist Webzine, Ron Paul, despite his masquerading as a candidate outside of Establishment politics, is in reality simply an unvarnished voice of the Establishment. Paul may not want to wage wars overseas; he wants to put troops on our border with Mexico. Paul may not want to engage in crony capitalism; he prefers capitalist exploitation straight-up and laissez-faire. Stewart Alexander and Alex Mendozza present a true alternative to Establishment politics. Vote for a socialist in 2012, not a libertarian capitalist.
United Lefthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05129882725243628389noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1669775622593167398.post-43800890396920276292012-01-17T19:13:00.000-08:002012-01-17T19:13:36.392-08:00Stewart Alexander on Occupy Wall Street Raids

We know what Barack Obama will be doing for the next year: Dining with top corporate donors to his re-election campaign. Making compromises with Republicans that undercut the rights of workers. Or wrestling over whether gays and lesbians should have the fundamental civil right to marry. Or maintaining the tax status quo that allows the richest members of American society to pay fewer taxes than their secretaries. Or directing U.S. military attention to the Asia-Pacific region and maintaining global U.S. dominance. Or letting multi-national corporations pollute the environment and lead us towards irreversible climate change. Or letting public universities languish and tuition rise as student debt increases. Or letting women earn 78 cents to every man's dollar.
However, we also know what Stewart Alexander will be doing for the next year: Leading a grassroots campaign for the presidency that relies on donations from people, not corporations. He is a working person, and will campaign in support of the working people of America. He will support the rights of gays and lesbians to marry, and the right of LGBTQ people to work without fear of employment discrimination. He will campaign in support of a tax policy that takes from those who have and give to those who have not. He will reject imperialism and work towards peace, not war. He will support climate change legislation that holds corporations accountable to the pollution of the environment and builds green infrastructure. He will support free education from pre-school to grad school and relieve student debt. Finally, he will work for women's rights and support equal pay. America is only beholden to a two-party system if we vote in this manner. The progressive choice for president is clear: Stewart Alexander, not Barack Obama
United Lefthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05129882725243628389noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1669775622593167398.post-51917339844054641452011-12-26T12:15:00.000-08:002011-12-26T12:17:29.587-08:00Alejandro Mendoza: Vice Presidential Candidate

Stewart Alexander is an activist, a politician, and a socialist. Alexander has decades of experience fighting for social and economic equality, and values peace at home and around the world. Alexander has worked with the NAACP and has formerly hosted a Los-Angeles based talk show tackling social issues that other shows shied away from. In 1989, Alexander began his career as a politician by running for Mayor of Los Angeles. In the 1990's, Alexander explored political options outside of the stagnant two major parties, Democrats and Republicans. This was the time in which he found Socialism, and soon was involved in the Peace and Freedom Party based out of his native California. Alexander also worked within the Green Party. He is currently seeking nomination from both political parties. In 2008, Alexander became the Vice Presidential nominee of the Socialist Party USA. In 2010, he ran in the gubernatorial primaries for the Peace and Freedom Party in California, coming up with the second highest vote percentage, with 40%. Also in 2010, Alexander announced his candidacy for President of the United States with the Socialist Party USA and in August 2011 he won the Presidential nomination of the Socialist Party USA.
Appeal to Reasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02731279250632576474noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1669775622593167398.post-70986333778992412892011-04-27T13:03:00.000-07:002011-04-27T20:14:58.274-07:00Why Stewart Alexander?
We support Stewart Alexander in his candidacy for president of the United States because he supports the Democratic Socialism which is necessary to move this country from the gutter of capitalism, inequality, and permanent hierarchy to the more just world of peace, equality, and Socialism. Our quest is not one to turn America into Soviet Russia, but rather a quest to turn America into a true land of freedom. A Socialist Party president would provide a crucial step between this capitalist world to a world where true bottom-up Socialism prevails.
